KATHMANDU, Dec 22: Public Service Commission (PSC) Chairman Umesh Mainali has said that the reservation system adopted for the entry in government service was not working as per its objectives.

Speaking in today's meeting of State Affairs Committee under the Legislature-Parliament, Mainali said that though the reservation system was managed targeting to uplift the socially and economically deprived groups, the second group is yet to benefit.

He added that the reservation system was said to be provided to the socially and economically deprived groups however, it is yet to be implemented as it was not mentioned in the budget.

The PSC Chair opined for managing reservation quota to a person in a single time not for time and again like in section officer, under secretary and joint secretary.

He added that the commission has already submitted different draft of laws related to the commission to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

The committee meeting has issued directives to make appointments in the vacant posts in different government offices. The committee has directed the PSC to establish a research and analysis wing in PSC, said Dil Bahadur Gharti, chairman at the committee.

Lawmakers Yubraj Gyawali, Gangalal Tuladhar Brijesh Kumar Gupta, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, Navindra Raj Joshi, Prem Suwal, and Tikaram Chemjong spoke in the meeting. RSS
