KATHMANDU, Aug 3: The Nepal Electricity Authority is preparing to provide customers with real-time updates on planned power outages and service restoration through mobile notifications.
To support the service, the NEA has accelerated its know-your-customer (KYC) update campaign, saying incomplete customer records have hindered timely communication.

Customers can now update their personal and electricity service details online through the NEA’s KYC portal without visiting NEA offices or revenue collection centres.
Acting Executive Director Dirghayu Kumar Shrestha said updated customer information would enable the authority to deliver outage and restoration notices more efficiently, improving overall customer service.
The NEA said the KYC process has been made fully online and urged all customers to update their information.
Based on the updated records, the authority plans to send customers direct notifications on power outages, maintenance work and other electricity-related services.
