Speaking to Republica, the Mahanth Thakur-led Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party (TMDP) Vice Chairman Brikhesh Chandra Lal said that they will make public their candidates on Monday. "We have almost finalized the names of candidates for both the FPTP and PR electoral system," said Lal. [break]
"The main agenda for the polls is full-fledged federalism, autonomous Madhes province," added Lal. He then went to claim that they will win majority of Tarai constituencies.
Spokesperson of Upendra Yadav-led Madhesi People´s Right Forum-Nepal (MPRF-N) Ratneshwar Lal Kayastha said that their party would contest at 130 constituencies. "As our party emerged from Madhes movement, we are likely to get majority of Tarai constituencies," said Kayastha, adding that the people have assured them of victory.
"We will make public our candidates under FPTP before Tuesday," he further said. He insisted that their Chairman Yadav will contest the election from both the constituency number 5 of Morang and Sunsari, from where he was elected in the last CA poll.
The Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar-led MPRF-D Vice Chairman Nasir Siddiqui has said that their party will finalize the list of candidates through a two-day parliamentary meeting starting from Sunday. "We will finalize the candidates very soon," added Siddiqui. He further said that their party has proposed two Madhes provinces in election manifesto.
"We have proposed Tharuhat province comprising of western districts, and Eastern Madhes province comprised of eastern Tarai districts," he added. He claimed that their party will win constituencies where Muslims are in majority.
Sadbhavana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato said that his party will announce the names of their candidates on Monday.
