India defeat NZ by 10 wickets in 1st Test

KATHMANDU, March 21: India defeated New Zealand by 10 wickets on the fourth day of the first Test at Hamilton, Saturday. With this win, India have taken a 1-0 lead in the 3-Test series.



This is India´s first Test win in New Zealand since the Auckland Test of 1976, said cricinfo.com.



Harbhajan Singh took 6 for 63 to snuff out a valiant later order challenge by the last man out, Brendon McCullum, who scored 84.



Sachin Tendulkar scored 160 in the first innings, his 42nd Test century, to set the stage for India´s victory. He was named Man of the Match.



New Zealand scored 279 in each of the two innings and India scored 520 and 39 not out.
