The bus with registration number Lu 1 Kha 8593 heading for Kapilvastu from Kathmandu hit the microbus with registration number Ba 1 Pa 1028 heading to Kathmandu from Pokhara.
Four people were killed on the spot while another breathed his last while receiving treatment, according to Area Police Office (APO) of Gajuri, Dhading. Four of the deceased are Korean nationals.
The deceased have been identified as Chhang Bok Hee (Passport number 29800632), Noh Yon Deuk (58996019), Cho Young Ja (77076229) and Lee Song Young-Jr (3453982) of Korea and Roshan Bhusal, microbus driver of Goldhunga, Kathmandu, according to District Police Office of Dhading.
A total of 16 injured, including Kimnamkyu DG (Passport number 1286978) of Korea are undergoing treatment, informed DSP Prakash Malla, who is also the DPO's chief.
According to DSP Malla, the micro bus driver collided with the bus while overtaking a truck. The microbus was carrying seven passengers, including five Korean and two Nepali nationals. Four of them were killed in the accident while the remaining three, who are critically injured, are undergoing treatment.
Six of the injured, whose condition is said to be critical, are receiving treatment at B & B Hospital in the capital while the remaining 10 injured have been admitted to Gajuri Hospital in the district.
The bus driver has been sent to police custody. Investigation into the incident is on, according to APO, Gajuri.
