FinMin advocates production-based economy

KATHMANDU: Minister for Finance Shakar Prasad Koirala said the country should promote production-based economy for sustainable development.



Speaking at an interaction organized by Small Enterprise Development Program (SEDP), Koirala, who is also the Minister for Industry, said that the country can not achieve economic revolution with import-oriented economy. [break]



SEDP is a program implemented by the Ministry of Industry. He underlined the need to promote local entrepreneurs and industries for strengthening country´s economic situation. "We can bring investment only by creating investment-friendly environment and making political situation stable," he said, adding that the proposed foreign investment policy incorporates programs to create investment-friendly climate in the country. "Millions of rupees is going out of the country to buy things that can be produced in the country. We need to stop this," he added.



Minister Koirala also assured necessary funds for SEDP and similar other programs.
