Talking to reporters in Mahendranagar where he came to address rallies of party’s candidate for April 10 by-elections in Kanchanpur-4, Poudel said claimed the Maoists were feeding the combatants from state coffers but were using them for partisan interests.

“UNMIN and Special Committee for Integration of Maoist Combatants must jointly monitor the activities of the Maoist combatants,” said Poudel. “If the combatants’ activities are not strictly monitored, the state should not take responsibility of the Maoist combatants.” He also demanded daily attendance of the combatants in the cantonment sites to ensure that they are not used outside the cantonment to thrash political opponents.
