38 aftershocks recorded following 6.1 magnitude Sindhupalchowk earthquake

KATHMANDU, March 1: A total of 38 aftershocks have occurred after a 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck Sindhupalchowk on Friday at around 2:51 am. As of 8 pm on Friday (February 28), the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center (NEMRC) reported measuring 38 aftershocks.

The NEMRC confirmed that this strong shock was an aftershock of the destructive 2015 Gorkha earthquake.

The NEMRC recorded 38 aftershocks ranging from 2.3 to 3.8 magnitude. It noted that all the aftershocks had epicenters near Sindhupalchok.

Since 8 pm on Friday, no significant aftershocks have been recorded. The strong quake was felt in Kathmandu, several other districts, and parts of India.
