KATHMANDU, Nov 4: Around 159 aftershocks have been recorded following the earthquake with an epicenter in Jajarkot last night.
The National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center reported a total of 159 aftershocks following the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Jajarkot at 11:47 PM on Friday night.
Jajarkot experiences 444 aftershocks till 11:30 AM
Seismologist Mukund Bhattarai at the Center confirmed that these aftershocks continued until 10:15 on Saturday morning.
While it is challenging to predict the duration of aftershocks following a major earthquake, it is generally believed that smaller seismic vibrations can persist for minutes, weeks, months, and even years afterward. Seismic activity at the epicenter will continue until it gradually returns to its previous state.
