KATHMANDU, Feb 25: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has appointed mountaineer Nirmal Purja as the World Goodwill Ambassador for Nepal's Tourism.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale announced the appointment of Purja as the World Goodwill Ambassador at a function organized at the ministry on Thursday.

Purja was also honored at the event for his significant contribution to introduce Nepal to the world. Minister Ale said Purja can introduce Nepal as a top destination in the world.
Respecting the courage of the climbers, he wished them success in breaking their own record in the days to come. “I am expecting Nepal to take a sharp turn regarding tourism and mountaineering,” Minister Ale said.
Speaking on the occasion, mountaineer Nirmal Purja said that he felt his responsibility was enhanced by the honor bestowed on him by the ministry.
He mentioned that he would like to contribute for the betterment of the country in the days to come. Purja has set a world record by climbing all 14 mountains (all above 8,000 meters) of the world, including the highest peak, Mount Everest.
