Int'l judo seminar from Sunday

KATHMANDU, Sept 5: The JUA Education, Coaching and Kata Seminar will kick off on Sunday at the Multipurpose Martial Arts Centre, Nayabazaar.



The international seminar, being organized by Nepal Judo Association (NJA) with support from Judo Union of Asia (JUA), is expected to benefit the participating coaches as they will get first-hand knowledge from foreign judo experts.[break]



Speaking at a press conference organized in the capital on Wednesday, NJA President Deepak Harsha Bajracharya said about 70 judo coaches from nine Asian countries will attend the three-day seminar.



Besides host Nepal, the other participating countries are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore.

The three judo experts who will conduct the seminar are Mohammad Dareksan from Iran and Japanese duo of Miki Hiro Mumai and Sinichiro Sato.



According to NJA General Secretary Ramesh Maharjan, the estimated cost of the seminar is Rs 800,000. JUA has provided US$ 5,000 for conducting the seminar. The National Sports Council and NJA will bear the remaining amount.



JUA conducts two seminars every year and Nepal was chosen to host this seminar after five years, according to NJA President Bajracharya.
