KATHMANDU, Feb 25: Youth wings of two communist parties that merged last month to form the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) merged on Wednesday to form the Young Communist League Nepal (YCL-Nepal). The unification was announced at a special function organized in the capital.

YCL, the youth wing of the ruling Maoist party, and All Nepal Democratic Youth Association (ANDYA), the youth wing of CPN (Unity Center-Masal), merged with the former YCL chief Ganesh Man Pun as the coordinator of the new body. There are 255 members in the main working committee of the YCL-Nepal, with 185 members from YCL and 70 from ANDYA. Joint-coordinators of YCL-Nepal are Raju Khadka of ANDYA and Uma Bhujel of YCL. The new body will use the flag of ANDYA.

CPN-Maoist and CPN (Unity Center-Masal) had merged on January 13 to form Unified CPN-Maoist.

Speaking at the special function, YCL Coordinator Pun said those not declaring their property voluntarily will be tracked and punished. YCL leader Chandra Bahadur Thapa Sagar warned of eliminating all reactionaries wherever they go.

The program was addressed by Maoist leaders Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who spent most of their time in criticizing other parties.
