KATHMANDU, June 8: Police have arrested a person from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on charge of smoking onboard the aircraft.
DIG Arjun Chand Thakuri, Chief of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Security Office, said that the person was arrested on charge of smoking a cigarette on the aircraft that arrived in Kathmandu from South Korea at 7 pm on Wednesday.
The arrested youth has been identified as Subas Puri,28, from Jhapa. He arrived in Nepal via Korean Air KE 695.
Police received information about smoking on the aircraft. DIG Thakuri said that he was arrested after the airline officials requested police to take action with an official letter.
"We received information from the flight that an individual smoked aboard the Korean Air aircraft. The counter staff informed us that they approached the person after the plane landed and subsequently took him into custody as he handed over the letter to them," he said.
The arrested youth has been sent to Gaushala Police Sector for further investigation.
