Writ filed at SC demanding to curtail judicial rights of local level

KATHMANDU, Dec 25: A writ has been filed at the Supreme Court demanding to curtail the judicial rights of the local level.


However, the administration at the apex court is yet to decide whether to register the writ officially or not and has informed that it will decide the fate of the writ very soon.

The writ application filed by Bijendra Lal Joshi, chairperson of National Unity Forum, it has been demanded to limit the judicial rights of the local government citing that the local government while exercising the judicial right allocated by the constitution and local government act 2017, the deputy-mayors have made decision that would impact adversely the life and properties of the public.


The petitioner has named Office of President, House of Representatives, National Assembly, Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliament Affairs, Ministry of Federal Affairs and office of Kathmandu Metropolitan City as defendants. The petitioner has also demanded the interim order from the apex court to suspend the exercise of the judicial right of the local level.
