Woman held for swindling Rs 750,000

KOHOLPUR, April 30: Police on Monday arrested a woman in Banke for allegedly swindling 10 youths of millions of rupees with the promise of providing them jobs in the Nepal Army.



Kabita Nepali, 25, of Naubasta VDC- 7 was arrested for allegedly abetting Lok Bahadur Adhikari, of Bharte VDC- 5 of Lamjung, who posed as an army officer to recruit personnel for the Nepal Army. Kabita has been accused of cheating the youths of Rs 750,000.[break]



According to DSP Madhav Shrestha, she had taken Rs 75,000 each from the youths with the promise of providing them job in the Nepal Army. The police had arrested Kabita acting on the complaint of victims.



“Lok Bahadur, however, has been absconding after Kabita"s arrest,” said Shrestha.



Krishna Kumar Nepali, of Dailekh, Bhupendra Sonam, Rohit Bishwokarma, Arjun Sonam and Heera Bishwokarma, of Kailali, Yuvaraj Bhujel of Bardiya, Khadka Bahadur Thadamagar, of Dadeldhura, Lil Bahadur Budha, of Banke and Mohammad Kumar Bhuda of Surkhet, among others, were cheated by Nepali and Adhikari, said the police.



“Kabita has taken Rs 75,000 from me,” claimed Bhupendra.



Investigation into the case is on, said the police.
