Two held for swindling NEA job aspirants of Rs 1 million

KATHMANDU, Jan 4: Police have arrested two thugs on the charge of swindling people of Rs 1 million promising them jobs in the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

KATHMANDU, Jan 4: Police have arrested two thugs on the charge of swindling people  of Rs 1 million promising them jobs in the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).


The arrested are 37-year-old legal practitioner Jaya Prakash Das of Balan Bihul rural municipality-6, Saptari, currently staying in Koteshwar, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32, and Ashok Kumar Mukhiya,43, of Bhagawanpur rural municipality-2, Siraha, currently staying at Shantinagar, Kathmandu.

According to Metropolitan Crime Division, Teku, Das and Mukhiya cheated people who had applied for the post of senior meter reader at the NEA.


Das had taken Rs one million as kickback from job applicants impersonating himself as an employee of the Ministry of Labor.


The victims lodged complaints at the police station after having known that they were swindled. Police launched a manhunt for Das and Mukhiya following the complaints by the victims. They were able to nab Das on January 1 and Mukhiya on January 2 from Sinamangal, Kathmandu.


Police said they are investigating the case after taking Das and Mukhiya into custody.
