KATHMANDU, June 17: More than four Nepali migrant workers have died every day on average during foreign employment in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year 2025/26, according to data released by the Foreign Employment Board (FEB).
A total of 1,438 Nepalis died while working abroad between July 17, 2025, and June 14, 2026, the board’s records show.
According to the board, 144 Nepali migrant workers died in various countries in Jestha (mid-May to mid-June) alone.

The data shows that since the beginning of the current fiscal year, an average of more than 130 Nepalis have died each month and more than four deaths have been recorded daily among those employed abroad.
The Board’s records also show that 12,132 Nepalis have lost their lives while working abroad over the past 10 years and 11 months.
The annual death toll among Nepali migrant workers stood at 816 in FY 2015/16, 756 in FY 2016/17, 821 in FY 2017/18, 754 in FY 2018/19, and 661 in FY 2019/20.
Similarly, 1,242 deaths were recorded in FY 2020/21, 1,395 in FY 2021/22, 1,208 in FY 2022/23, 1,458 in FY 2023/24, and 1,583 in FY 2024/25.
In the first 11 months of the current Fiscal Year 2025/26, the number of Nepalis who died during foreign employment has reached 1,438, according to the Board’s data.
