KATHMANDU, May 6: A woman’s dead body has been found in a hotel in Gongabu, Kathmandu. The deceased has been identified as Kalpana Bhandari, 31, of Letang Municipality-2, Morang. She used to live in Bansbari.
According to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, she was found hanging in a hotel in Gongabu on Friday and was rescued and taken to the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.
However, the doctors declared that she had died. According to the police, Bhandari was staying in the hotel with Anit Karki, 32, of Chandragiri Municipality-15.

According to Karki's statement to the police, when there was no response to the knocking for an extended period, he sought assistance from others at the hotel. After breaking open the door and finding Bhandari hanging from the ceiling, he removed the rope. Subsequently, the police arrived and escorted her to the hospital.
According to a police officer, Bhandari's family was also informed immediately. The family has now filed a complaint against Karki for abetting suicide, and he has been arrested.
Police sources report that Bhandari appears to have swelling around her right eye and injuries on other parts of her body consistent with signs of a physical altercation. However, no suicide note or any other indicators were discovered at the scene.
Bhandari's husband is currently working abroad. Authorities are conducting further investigations into the matter.
