KATHMANDU, AUg 8: Monsoon is to be active again, triggering light or moderate rain in most parts of the country for the next two to three days. According to meteorologist Shanti Kandel, the monsoon trough is likely to draw closer to the Terai plains from tonight and cause precipitation.
There is a possibility of heavy rainfall in some parts during the period. Meteorologists have predicted that the monsoon will become more intense this year. Nepal experienced almost continuous rain this year as the monsoon trough remained in Nepal for many days.
WEATHER ALERT: Monsoon to become active again starting Monday
The Meteorological Forecasting Division has called for being watchful as there is the possibility of rain-induced disasters in this period.
Presently, it is partly cloudy in some parts of Province 2 and Province 5 and generally too cloudy in the remaining parts of the country. Rainfall is taking place in some parts of Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, Province 5, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Today, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to continue at some places of the country with chances of heavy rainfall at a few places of Province 1, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province and Sudur Paschim Province.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division’s reports show the Kathmandu Valley’s minimum temperature today (in the last 24 hours) was 21.4 degrees Celsius and the maximum 30.6 degrees Celsius. Jumla measured the lowest 17.3 degrees Celsius while Nepalgunj experienced the highest 36.8 degrees Celsius.
