KATMANDU, June 29: The massive landslide in the Himalayas of Helambu Rural Municipality-1 of Sindhupalchowk district triggered a huge flash flood downstream that wiped away everything on its way on June 16.
It has been 13 days since Helambu Rural Municipality and Melamchi Municipality witnessed the devastation but there is no sign of improvement in the situation.
The last bridge connecting Helambu to rest of the world in bad...
Roads connecting the villages are yet to be rebuilt. Electricity and communication networks are yet to be restored. As many as five motorable bridges worth more than 100 million rupees have been swept away.
Locals in the upper part of Helambu are facing shortage of food supplies and other daily essentials.
There are still many villages that are at high risk of floods and landslides but the authorities concerned seem completely unaware about it.
