KATHMANDU, Oct 3: State Minister for Health and Population, Umesh Shrestha has said that children below the age of 18 will be administered vaccines against COVID-19 right after Dashain.
Speaking at an event organized to hand over health materials from Buddhist Tzu Chi Charity Foundation to Kanti Children's Hospital on Sunday, State Minister Shrestha said that the arrival of 10 million doses of vaccines for children below the age of 18 has been confirmed. He said that arrangements have been made to procure four million doses of Moderna and six million doses of Pfizer vaccines.

He said that as many as 100,000 vaccines will arrive in Nepal by Dashain and will be administered to children.
“The Nepal government has prioritized mass vaccination for the general public and has made arrangements to procure four million doses of Moderna and six million doses of Pfizer. As many as 100,000 vaccines will arrive in Nepal by Dashain,” Shrestha said. He also said that provisions have been made to provide scholarships to children of health workers, who lost their parents during the process of prevention and control of COVID-19 inside the country.
The Buddhist Tzu Chi Charity Foundation donated 25 units of ventilators along with health materials to Kanti Children's Hospital. According to Mahesh Nakarmi, representative of the foundation, the Foundation provided the ventilators, citing the risk of a third wave of COVID-19 across the country.
