KATHMANDU, Nov 27: The representatives, members and supervisors are all eagerly waiting for the election of a new leadership of the CPN-UML through its 10th General Convention currently underway in Chitwan.

Despite the representatives urging for a consensus to elect the UML’s leadership, senior leaders of the party have not reached an agreement.

Although a discussion was held between Vice-chairman Bhim Rawal, who announced his candidacy for the post of party chairman, and Subash Nembang, the duo could not reach an agreement. Following the discussion, Rawal headed off to register his candidacy for the post.

Meanwhile, Chairman KP Sharma Oli is also holding discussions with senior leaders of the party. In the course of discussion, Oli has assured Subash Nembang of appointing him the president of the country, which he rejected. Similarly, Asta Laxmi Shakya remained quiet when Oli promised her the post of vice-president.

The ongoing discussions and consultations among senior party leaders have delayed the closed session of the General Convention. The closed session which was scheduled for 10AM on Saturday has just started.

Furthermore, the proposal to increase the number of office-bearers of the party in the closed session made by the party’s central committee on Friday will be announced in the closed session.
