KATHMANDU, Jan 28: The district convention of the UCPN (Maoist) Rautahat was postponed after a scuffle erupted over food on Monday.

A scuffle among the cadres erupted after the organizing committee failed to manage mess due to overcrowded cadres prompting the office bearers of the party to postpone the convention, district in-charge Ashok Jaiswal said. [break]

"We had prepared mess to accommodate just 1000 representatives, however, 1200/1300 cadres were present in the convention," Jaiswal added, "We had tough time to manage such a large number as we were not prepared for it."

"Clash erupted after Prabhu Shah faction started criticizing the organizing committee for mismanagement. As the tension escalated, Bibek Mahato confronted with Shah faction. Mahato was attacked by the Shah faction for protesting," he added.

Conceding that the convention has been postponed after scuffle over mess, Bindeshwor Yadav, a member of the organizing committee and also close to Shah faction, said, "We are trying to pick general convention representatives through consensus."
