UCPN (M) candidate vehicle set on fire

KANCHANPUR, Oct 26: A vehicle owned by UCPN (Maoist) candidate from Kanchanpur Constituency No.4 Mohan Giri was set on fire here on Saturday.



According to the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, two unidentified people set a Mahendra jeep (Ma 1 Ja 73) of Giri on fire while it was parked at Bhimdutta Municipality- 5. The arsonists immediately fled the scene after they set the vehicle ablaze, said office spokesperson Birkha Bahadur Rawal. The incident took place at around 2:30 pm.[break]



Two back seats of the jeep have been completely damaged and other parts are partially burnt. The UCPN (M) Kanchanpur secretary Gagan Singh has accused the CPN-Maoist cadres of being responsible behind the incident.



However, CPN-Maoist central member DD Pandey has refuted the allegations. Police have said that a search for the arsonists is underway.
