Eight cricketing regions will participate in the tournament that will conclude on April 26. [break]
While defending champion Region No 4 Bhairahawa, Region No 7 Janakpur, Region No 5 Nepalgunj and Region No 6 Baitadi are in group ´A´, Region No 2 Birgunj, Region No 3 Kathmandu, Region No 8 Pokhara and Region No 1 Biratnagar are in group ´B´ of the tournament.
The group winners will directly qualify for the final.
Birgunj will take on Kathmandu at the TU Cricket Ground and Pokhara will take on Biratnagar at Pulchowk Engineering Ground on the opening day.
CAN has informed that it will select players for the upcoming ACC U-19 Asia Cup and ICC U-19 World Cup from among the players participating in the tournament.
The ACC U-19 Asia Cup would kick off in Malaysia from June 23 whereas ICC U-19 World Cup will be held in Australia in August.
Shakti FM wins title
Shakti FM won the title of the NSJF Media Cup, seven-A-side football tournament on Thursday in Hetauda.
Shakti FM defeated Journalist Right Forum 2-1 in a tiebreaker in the final of the tournament organized by Nepal Sports Journalist Forum (NSJF) Makuwanpur Coordination Committee.
Bibek Shrestha and Yunish Shrestha scored for Shakti FM in the tiebreaker while Rojin Shrestha scored the lone goal for Right Forum.
Central committee member of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Pratap Bista gave away the prizes to the winner and runner-up.
APF, Army in volleyball final
Armed Police Force (APF) has set up a final clash with Nepal Army in the Fourth Nakhipot Nationwide Open Men´s Volleyball Tournament.
APF booked its berth in the final after receiving a walkover from Dhorpatan Sports Training Center on Thursday.
Army Club has already advanced into the final to be held on Saturday.
In the last match of the round-robin league, Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Center beat Kavre Volleyball Club 25-22, 25-16, 22-25, 25-23 but the result did not have any impact on the points table.
