ITAHARI, July 30: Police have arrested two people on charge of rape in Itahari.

Police have arrested Chattra Bahadur Khadka, 34, from Ramdhuni Rural Municipality-4. Khadka is accused of sexually exploiting a girl by giving a false promise to marry her. 

Police said Khadka raped her after taking her to Tirupati Hotel and Lodge in Itahari. Although he absconded after the raping, police have managed to arrest him.

In a separate case, an absconding defendant of the child sexual abuse case has also been arrested by the police. Bhim Bahadur BK, who lives on rent in Itahari, was arrested and a case has been filed against him at the Sunsari District Court. He was accused of sexually abusing 12 year old minor.

Rape cases are increasing every year in Sunsari. According to police, there has been an increase in the cases of rape and rape of girls and women due to growing impunity in the society.
