Two more succumb to COVID-19 in Chitwan

DHADING, Aug 28: Two more people have died of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). One patient each died while undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College (CMC) and Pushpanjali Hospital in Chitwan.

According to the CMC administration, a 71-year-old female patient from Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City breathed her last at 6:50 am earlier on Friday. She was admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital on August 23 after she complained of breathing difficulties. She was being treated on a ventilator after she tested positive for COVID-19. This was the first case of fatality reported at the hospital, said CMC’s Coordinator Dr Dayaram Lamsal.

Meanwhile, another 51-year-old man succumbed to this viral infection at the Pushpanjali Hospital on Friday morning. “The patient from Bharatpur Metropolitan City, who was learnt to have been suffering from asthma for long, died at 10 am today,” said COVID-19 focal person at the hospital, Dr Sandeep Pandey. The man had tested positive for this virus on August 24.

The country witnessed five COVID-19 related deaths on Friday alone. Earlier, two other patients lost their lives while undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan. 

A case of fatality was reported earlier in Bhaktapur today.
