KATHMANDU, May 20: The Ministry of Health and Population has refuted rumor that a COVID-19 patient from Gulmi had died while undergoing treatment at a local hospital in Rupandehi.
At a regular press meet, Bikash Devkota, the spokesperson for the ministry said that the COVID-19 patient is undergoing treatment in critical condition.
Earlier today, Crimson Hospital, where the patient is currently undergoing treatment, also refuted the rumor after a section of online media reported about his death.
The hospital said that the 41-year-old man from Madane Rural Municipality-6 of Gulmi district was admitted for the treatment of Sepsis with MODS (Multi-Organ Dysfunction Syndrome).
The hospital had collected his throat swab sample and sent it to Bhairahawa-based Provincial Public Health Laboratory for screening of coronavirus through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method on May 15, which turned out positive on Monday.
"We urge one and all not to rely on false information. The patient is now receiving treatment in the ICU," the hospital said.
Note: We regret for the previous story that we ran about the third COVID-19 death. Republica prepared the story after the mayor of Tilottama Municipality, Rupandehi, confirmed the death. ---Republica
