As per the deal, Laxmi Bank will provide the club Rs 2 million every year while the club will brand itself as Laxmi Bank Three Star Club.
Mega Bank had sponsored Three Star in 2067 BS, but the Lalitpur-based club was without a title sponsor in the recently concluded league. Three Star is the first club in Nepal´s football history to sign a title sponsorship agreement. Nabil Bank had sponsored the club for five years in the past.
The Rs 2-million deal between Laxmi Bank and Three Star is the biggest sponsorship deal in Nepali football along with the one between Yeti Airlines and Himalayan Sherpa Club for the 2069 BS season.
According to Three Star, co-sponsors Western Union and Leon Motors, the authorized distributor of Mitsubishi, have been providing the club Rs 1.15 million and Rs 575,000 respectively every year. If they continue to provide the same amount, Three Star would get Rs 3.725 million in the upcoming season.
Laxmi Bank CEO Joshi said they signed the sponsorship deal with the club to stregnthen relations with the club.
"Football is the most popular sports in the country and Three Star has been playing a crucial role to give it a positive direction. This is the reason why we chose Three Star for the sponsorship," said Joshi.
Joshi handed over the club´s jersey with the logos of the sponsor and co-sponsors to Three Star captain Santosh Sahukhala and defender Biraj Maharjan on Tuesday.
Three Star President Shrestha said the sponsorship deal would boost their AFC President´s Cup campaign. Shrestha said that vying for the league title without a main sponsor was a difficult task for the club.
All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) President Ganesh Thapa said domestic tournaments and other programs conducted by ANFA have attracted the corporate houses to sponsor football.
