Fed up with the five months long protest, the locals are planning to celebrate the festival on full swing to regain the lost trust between the two communities.The locals also organized the 'Tharu Homestay Mahotsav' in Bhada village of the district where the youths of hill community took a significant step to promote the festival.
"The people from other communities visiting the Tharu villages to promote Maghi is an indication that the locals of Kailali are keen to maintain social harmony," said Madhav Chaudhary, general secretary of the struggle committee to lead the protest demanding a separate Tharuhat province in the new constitution.
Ramesh Joshi, a local leader of Nepali Congress, said that the local entrepreneurs, social workers and the people of all walks of life would participate in the festival of the Tharu community.
