'Taandro' is based on the book 'Smritika Dobharu' written by Maoist combatant Ganga Bahadur Lama. The script for the film was written by Bhutia and Upendra Subba. The story is based on real life incidents.The film features a large cast which includes Dayahang Rai, Rajan Khatiwada, Buddhi Tamang, Aruna Karki, Kamal Mani Nepal, Ram Babu Gurung, Saraswati Chaudhary, Junu Bista, and Suraj Yadav.
'Taandro' is not the only Nepali film that is being screened at the festival. 'Sunakali' by Bhojraj Bhat will be screened in the 'Cinema of the World' category while Sophie Dia Pegrum's 'Talking to the Air: The Horses of the Last Forbidden Kingdom' will be featured under the 'Spiritual Section.' In the 'Shorts and Independent Section', Arun D Joshi's short film 'Kamaro (Bonded Labor)' will be screened.
There are eight different categories in this 14th edition of the film festival, which will screen a total of 170 films from 60 different countries such as Germany, Hong Kong, Iran, Finland, Spain, and the UK.
Dhaka International Film Festival will be held from January 14 till January 22.
