Afghanistan secured their place in the semi-finals by defeating Bangladesh in the final match of the Super Eight stage. This win not only confirmed their advancement but also knocked both Bangladesh and Australia out of the competition. India and South Africa to clash in T20 World Cup final today
South Africa topped Group 2 in the Super Eight stage and will aim to maintain their unbeaten record when they face Afghanistan at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Wednesday, June 26. Afghanistan's hard-fought victory over Bangladesh in St Vincent, where they scored 115/5 and bowled out Bangladesh for 105 in a rain-affected game, winning by 8 runs (DLS method), ensured their advancement.
The second semi-final in Guyana on Thursday, June 27, will see unbeaten India taking on the reigning T20 World Cup champions, England. India secured their semi-final spot with an impressive victory over Australia and will be looking to avenge their previous 10-wicket loss to England at the Adelaide Oval in the most recent T20 World Cup.
