Kathmandu, June 21: Swiss Ambassador to Nepal, Elisabeth vonCapeller paid a courtesy visit to Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal. Various issues of bilateral relations and cooperation were discussed in the meeting.
Recalling the assistance the Swiss government has been providing to Nepal in technical and vocational education, Minister Bhusal hoped to continue receiving the essential aid and assistance in the days to come. Stating that climate change has become a major concern in Nepal, she said that cooperation is needed to reduce the impact of climate change which is a common problem for both the countries.

Minister Bhusal said, “Climate change in Nepal has induced problems like landslides in the mountains, floods in Terai and a rise in temperature. It is necessary to address these problems. The Nepal and Swiss governments should work together on these issues.” She expressed her thankfulness towards the Swiss government for its support in implementation of federalism and expansion of employment.
On the occasion, Ambassador Capeller said that Nepal needs technical assistance more than financial assistance and assured that the Swiss government would continue providing technical assistance to Nepal.
She said, “We have the required knowledge and skill in technical fields like tunnel and turbine which we want to aid Nepal.” She talked about the increase in temperature due to climate change in her country.
Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Madhu Prasad Bhetuwal, Baburam Bhandari and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present in the meeting.
