KATHMANDU, Feb 17: British Ambassador to Nepal, Nicola Pollitt has paid a courtesy call on Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Pampha Bhusal.
During today's meeting at the ministry, Minister Bhusal said that the Government of Nepal was committed to working closely in all areas of mutual interest.
Stating that the Government of Nepal has given high priority to clean and renewable energy production, e-mobility, low carbon infrastructure and promotion of eco-tourism, Minister Bhusal thanked the UK Government for its support to Nepal's renewable energy and environment management.

Recalling the important role of the Himalayas in balancing the ecosystems of the oceans and controlling global warming, Minister Bhusal said, "We look forward to international assistance for the protection of the Himalayan region."
Stating that she has given special priority to the promotion of hydropower projects to maintain a balance in the energy sector, Minister Bhusal said that she has given priority to projects like Budhigandi, Dudhkoshi and Nalgad.
She said that the government of Nepal has given priority to the promotion of hydropower as it is clean energy and has focused on mixed energy production in the development of the energy sector. Stating that the UK is Nepal's most reliable development partner, Minister Bhusal recalled that the UK had provided significant assistance in times of crisis and disaster.
On the occasion, Ambassador Pollitt said that the British government was willing to assist Nepal in its energy consumption and would further expand its cooperation with the Ministry of Energy. She said the UK government was ready to facilitate renewable energy production and trade in electricity. She also mentioned that they are assisting in the institutional strengthening of energy sector bodies.
