SINDHULI, Feb 23: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has categorically stated that the constitution amendment bill will not be endorsed, arguing that it is ‘unnecessary’ and against the ‘national interest’.

The constitution amendment proposal was registered in the House as a gimmick to foil the local elections, Oli said. “The constitution amendment bill is against the national interest and the interest of the entire Nepali people.”

Speaking at the 36th commemoration day of Rishiraj Devkota and first district representatives’ council  in Sindhuli today, Oli flayed the other parties accusing them of working at the behest of foreign power.

He further said that political parties should stop doing politics in the name of castes. “Only those who cannot do politics based on national development and ideology will resort to caste politics,” he commented.

CPN-UML has been poised as an anti-Madhesi party through the political discourse run by those who are engaged in caste- politics, Oli added.
