Manju left for treatment after Nepal National and International Players´ Association (NNIPA) handed her about Rs 1.87 million collected for her treatment. NNIPA president Deepak Bista presented her with the cash which included 500,000 each from the National Sports Council and the government.
Manju was undergoing dialysis after her kidneys stopped functioning since May. Speaking on behalf of Manju at the farewell, her husband Arun Chhitij thanked all who supported for her treatment and also vowed to return back the remaining money to NNIPA along with the details of expenses.
Minister for Youth and Sports Gopal Tiwari Nepali, National Sports Council vice president Pitambar Timilsina, NNIPA president Deepak Bista and other bade farewell to Manju, wishing for her quick recovery.
Prime set title clash with NCC

Bishal Thapa´s hat-trick helped Prime defeat Kathford 3-1. Anuj Dangol scored a consolation goal for Kathford. In another match, Nepal Commerce edged out KCIMT 2-1. Ek Pokhrel and Jones contributed one goal each to the winners while MB Lama scored one goal for KCIMT. The final match will be held on Monday.
Hosts Unique win basketball match
The junior boys´ teams of hosts Unique, Daffodil, NOBS, Gaurishankar, Jagat Mandir and HIMS won the matches during the Fifth Unique Inter School Valley-wide Basketball Championship on Wednesday.
Likewise, Galaxy, Unique, NIMS and Kantipur triumphed in their respective matches in the senior boys´ three-on-three category. In the senior girls´ category, Daffodil and NIMS emerged victorious on Wednesday´s matches.
Kotdevi in semifinals
Kotdevi entered the semifinals of the Fourth FECA Cup Inter School Football Championship on Wednesday, ousting the defending runners-up Gothatar 2-0. Kiran Thakuri of Kotdevi was declared man of the match.
In another match held at the Pepsicola town planning ground, Greenwich struggled past Bidhya Bikas 2-1 to secure berth in the semifinals. Greenwich´s Surya Rai was named man of the match. In the semifinals scheduled for Thursday, New Star will face Manohara while Kotdevi will take on Greenwich.
Siddhartha, Wilson win
Siddhartha Vanasthali and Wilson emerged victorious in the boys´ basketball matches during the 16th Eicher Gyan Carnival Inter School Sports Festival on Wednesday.
Vanasthali defeated LA 58-38 while Wilson beat GEMS 53-43. In the girls´ basketball, LA thrashed GEMS 21-4. Likewise, Boudha Secondary School, Little Angels (LA) and Deepjyoti won the boys´ football matches. Boudha defeated Vanasthali 2-1 and LA ousted GEMS 2-0 while Deep Jyoti edged past Gyansikha 2-0. Meanwhile, hosts Gyanodaya, Annal Jyoti, Venus and Deepjyoti secured berths for the semifinals.
Inter-college football from Sunday
The All Nepal National Free Students´ Union (ANNFSU), a student wing of CPN-UML is organizing Valley-wide Inter-college Football Tournament starting Sunday. The four week long tournament will feature 70 colleges from Kathmandu valley, stated ANNFSU President Ram Kumari Jhakri at a press meet on Wednesday.
The tournament to be held in the knockout format will be organized under technical support of ANFA. Only the regular students of colleges; and those who have not played in the first division league and from the national team are eligible to play in the tournament.
The opening and the final match is scheduled to be held in the Dasharth Stadium while rest of the matches will be held at the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Technical Center, Chysal.
CPN-UML general secretary Jhal Nath Khanal will inaugurate the tournament, which will carry cash prizes of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 for the top three teams along with trophies, medals and certificates.
Bright Future tops Rumpum PABSON meet
BIRATNAGAR: Bright Future School won the title of the Rumpum-PABSON Sports Meet organized by the Morang chapter of Private and Boarding Schools´ Organization Nepal (PABSON) from November 30 to December 2. Bright Future clinched seven gold, three silver and three bronze medals to secure 30 points and top the list while Mount Makalu trailed behind as runner-up with 17 points from one gold medal, four silvers and six bronzes. Mother Teresa collected 16 points from three golds, three silvers and one bronze to finish third.
The best player in girls´ category was awarded to Jewa Khan of Koshi Bidhya Mandir for bagging three gold medals. She is the only person to win 11 gold medals until date in the history of the game. Likewise, Sachin Khawas of Sagarmatha Secondary Boarding School was declared the best player in the boys´ category.
In Wednesday´s games, Ranjit Rai of Bright Future claimed gold in the boys´ 2 km road race while Ujita Majhi of the same school finished first in the girls´ road race. Koshi Bidhya Mandir´s Jewa Khan bagged gold in both 100 m and 200 m girls´ race. Ramesh Sunwar of Bright Future won the first position in boys´ 100 m race while Moonlight´s Bhuwan Dhakal won gold in the boys´ 800 m race. Godaveri Boarding School bagged gold in girls´ 100 m relay and Jupiter School won the boys´ relay.
Around 900 students from 64 schools affiliated to PABSON, Morang, participated in the event. The event was supported by Asian Thai Foods.
