AIA, Babylon in semis
The junior boys´ teams of the hosts Awareness International Academy (AIA) and Babylon advanced into the semifinals of the First AIA Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Thursday. AIA ousted Innovative 27-20 at their home court in Shankhamul, and Babylon defeated Golden Peak 34-20. Likewise, Gaurishankar and Daffodil also secured semifinal berths.
Gaurishankar defeated Neric 30-18 while Daffodil beat New Shrine 24-14. In the girls´ category, Valley Public, Angels´ Heart, Daffodil and Mahendra Bhawan advanced into the semifinals winning their respective matches. Valley Public edged out GEMS 30-14 with the help of Laxmi Shrestha´s 18 points. Angels´ Heart beat New Summit 23-13 while Daffodil defeated Rose Bud 21-13. Mahendra Bhawan, on the other hand, had to struggle to a 14-12 win against HHCA to secure semifinal berth.
Nobel win title
Nobel College won the Sixth Inter-college Football Tournament on Friday. Nobel defeated the hosts Budhanilkantha 1-0 in the final to lift the title. Sandeep Rai scored the decider in the 22nd minute for Nobel.
Rock climbing calendar unveiled
Mountaineering and Rock Climbing Sports Association Nepal unveiled their yearly calendar on Friday. During a press conference held at the National Sports Council, the association announced six programs for this year which include inter-college championships, professional climbing competition, women´s open rock climbing, construction of technical manpower department, formation of district level associations and elections. During the program, Nawang Nima Sherpa, president of the association, said there are eight places in Nepal suitable for natural rock climbing - Bimalnagar (Tanahun), Hattiban (Lalitpur), Nagarjun, Shivapuri National Park, Shiwang and three in Solukhumbu.

Gorkha Brewery on Friday announced the winner of the ´Win a Trip to England´ contest launched for the consumers of its product Carlsberg. The winner will get an opportunity to watch a friendly match between England and France along with a friend at the Wembley Stadium on November 11.
The winner selected through lucky draw is the holder of coupon number 008707 whose first name is Sheetal. All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) President Ganesh Thapa picked out the coupon on Friday. The winner will have to claim the prize within seven days of the announcement with the remaining half of the coupon and Nepali Passport, at the Gorkha Brewery office located at Hattisar, Kathmandu.
Other coupons drawn in the first five lot are 3031053, 0207571, 124026 and 061504. If the first winner does not claim the prize, the prize will pass on to the second lucky coupon and so on, states a press release issued by the company.
The travel and hospitality cost for the winner will be sponsored by the company. The campaign was conducted in around 2,800 outlets all over Nepal over a period of nearly three and half months earlier this year, according to the press release.
