KATHMANDU, Jan 24: It rained in some parts of Kathmandu today.

According to Meteorologist Govinda Jha of the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD), it rained sporadically in Chabahil, Balaju, Maharajgunj, and other areas of Kathmandu this afternoon.

"It rained sporadically in a couple of places, it drizzled for a while and then stopped," he said.

According to Jha, there was light rain due to the partial effect of the westerly winds. The sky of Kathmandu is cloudy. It is even colder today than on other days.

Apart from Kathmandu, there has been light rain in Taplejung and Manang. According to Jha, 2.5 mm of rain has fallen in Manang and 1.5 mm in Taplejung in the last 6 hours.

Meteorologist Jha said that it has snowed in high hilly and mountainous areas including Manang, Lukla , Solukhumbu, and Humla.

He said that the winter rain system is not active yet.

“Today’s sporadic rain is due to the normal influence of westerly winds. The rainfall system has not yet been activated,” said meteorologist Jha.
