KATHMANDU, Feb 4: The Special Court has sentenced former member of the Constituent Assembly and promoter of Civil Savings and Credit Cooperative Limited Ichchha Raj Tamang to three years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 1.73 billion.
The court also sentenced Tamang’s wife to one year and six months behind the bars and slapped a fine of Rs 1.36 billion. The court handed a jail term of one and a half years to Keshav Lal Shrestha, the then president of the Civil Savings and Credit Cooperative Limited in addition to a fine of Rs 256.5 million.

The full bench of Special Court chairman and Judge Tek Narayan Kunwar, judges Tej Narayan Singh Rai and Murari Babu Shrestha convicted him last Sunday and set the date for sentencing on February 4.
Three people, including Tamang and his wife, were found guilty in the case the plaintiffs had demanded recovery of Rs 3 billion from the convicts.
