KATHMANDU, June 22: Member of Special Committee for Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation and Maoist Politburo member Janardan Sharma on Wednesday accused the political parties of rendering the committee a “puppet”.

Speaking at an interaction organized by Reporters´ Club-Nepal, Sharma said the committee had failed to take any concrete decision due to interference from the top political leadership.[break]

“Special Committee has virtually turned into a puppet. It can only endorse issues settled by party leaders,” he said, adding, “We will be able to settle disputes only if we [special committee members] are allowed to work independently.”

Sharma also said that he has not participated in any of the committee meetings since June 19. “I won´t attend a meeting that can take no decisions.”
