Taiyab Hussain, 62, is from Bihar. He owns a shop at Kamalpokhari. “I came to Kathmandu with my elder brother. He used to sew mattresses and blankets. I learnt the skills from him and started working with him. We used to roam around Kathmandu sewing mattresses and blankets for a living,” he said. It has been 43 years now that he left his hometown and settled here in the valley. “I never thought that I would run a shop on my own. Life is interesting and unpredictable. Today I own a shop and am living comfortably with my family in a land that once was foreign to me,” said Taiyab. He is settled here with his wife and two sons.
