KATHMANDU, Nov 12: Traffic police have arrested six individuals for driving vehicles under the influence of drugs in the Kathmandu Valley.
According to Naresh Raj Subedi, spokesperson for the Valley Traffic Police Office, the arrests were made during a routine inspection conducted in Sukedhara. The drivers were found to have consumed narcotics before operating their vehicles.

Those arrested include Shekharnath Ghimire (39) of Arjundhara Municipality-6, Jhapa; Sajid Ansari (33) of Pachrauta Municipality-6, Bara; Suman Pariyar (22) of Belkotgadhi Municipality, Nuwakot; Suraj Kumar Bajgain (47) of Banepa Municipality-3, Kavrepalanchok; Kapil Thapa (32), a public bus driver from Thaha Municipality-4, Makwanpur; and Bhim Bahadur Khadka (22), a Bolero jeep driver from Salyan.
The Valley Traffic Police Office stated that the detainees have been sent to the respective police offices for further investigation.
Valley Traffic Police Chief Navaraj Adhikari said that officers remain active in conducting alcohol and drug tests across the Valley and urged all drivers, particularly those operating public vehicles, to avoid driving under the influence.
“Public vehicle drivers carry many passengers, and driving under the influence puts multiple lives at risk. Anyone violating the law will face legal action,” Adhikari warned.
