KATHMANDU, March 5: Police have arrested 11 people who were driving under the influence of banned drugs. The arrested 11 persons were among 25 people driving between 10 pm to 11:30 pm on Friday.
A joint team of the Valley Traffic Police Office, Nepal Police Hospital, Narcotics Control Bureau and Nagadhunga Police Sector Office carried out a special check at Nagadhunga, the main entry point to the federal capital.

After they were found driving under the influence of drugs they were sent to the Police Office in Balambu for necessary investigation and further action, Spokesperson of Valley Traffic Police Office, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajendra Prasad Bhatt said. They have been detained and will be prosecuted for the consumption of banned drugs.
People who drive vehicles under the influence of alcohol have been facing action from Traffic Police for a long time. But police have intensified the checking for consumption of drugs after many were found to have switched to drugs so as to avoid being detected during the check for alcohol consumption, according to the Valley Traffic Police Office.
