A single bench of Justice Girish Chandralal issued verdict to that end, giving preferential right to the petition for submission. [break]
The court verdict has asked the Council to submit a written reply on the same within November 20 and to present three lawyers from the Nepal Bar Association and the SC unit as amicus curie to assist the hearing on the petition.
Advocate Achyut Prasad Kharel last Wednesday filed the writ petition on the issue as per the Article 155 (1) of the Interim Constitution of Nepal. The petition claims that the Article 155( 1) of the Constitution has not mentioned the provision of a ´parliamentary hearing´ while giving the permanent status to the temporary judges or extending their tenure.
Presently, the SC is running with six permanent and seven temporary judges against a quota of 24 justices.
