Colaco also said that SAFF has sent a seeding proposal to the member nations.[break]
"We have sent a proposal on seeding to all member nations today (Wednesday) and we are waiting for their response," Colaco said.
However, football portal goalnepal.com has reported that host India and Maldives are given top seeding for the championship. India is the defending champion while Maldives is the runner-up of the last edition. These two teams will be pitted in different groups.
The semifinalists of the last edition -- Bangladesh and Sri Lanka -- are given second seeding. Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan and Afghanistan are unseeded. Nepal has failed to progress beyond the group stage since 1999.
Almost all the member countries have stared preparations for the championship. As part of preparations for the tournament, Nepali national team is on a month-long tour of four countries in the ASEAN region.
India is scheduled to play three friendly matches in November -- two with Malaysia and one with Zambia. Bangladesh team has lined up many friendlies will local teams and is planning an abroad tour in November. Pakistan will leave for Thailand in November.
Meawhile, Bhutan, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka have yet to officially start preparations.
