Ruby Khan and govt strike deal, probe panel to be formed

KATHMANDU, Oct 19: An agreement has been reached between Ruby Khan, a women's rights activist who has been on strike for the past 12 days, and the government. After the government formed a committee to investigate the Banke incident, an agreement was reached between Khan and the government.

KATHMANDU, Oct 19: An agreement has been reached between Ruby Khan, a women's rights activist who has been on strike for the past 12 days, and the government. After the government formed a committee to investigate the Banke incident, an agreement was reached between Khan and the government.


It has been agreed to form a committee under the coordination of Home Ministry Joint Secretary Hiralal Regmi to investigate the death of Nankunni Dhobi of Banke and the disappearance of Nirmala Kurmi.

The committee is also expected to submit an investigation report within a week after investigating the incidents. Meanwhile, women's rights activist Khan has ended her fast following the deal with the government.


Fourteen women had walked for 20 days from Banke to Kathmandu demanding justice and truth about Dhobi's death and Kurmi's disappearance.
