KATHMANDU, Sept 28: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Ashika Tamang has urged the government to make roads operational before Dashain and Tihar and ensure safe travel for the public.
Speaking in Parliament on Monday, Tamang said continuous rainfall over the past three to four days had triggered landslides and caused road sections to sink at several locations along the Prithvi Highway in Dhading-1, disrupting transportation.

“With Dashain and Tihar approaching, I would first like to draw the government’s attention to making the roads operational and ensuring safe travel for citizens,” she said.
Tamang also urged the government to immediately assess damage to homes, land and private property along the riverbanks of the Prithvi Highway and provide relief, rehabilitation and necessary compensation to genuine victims.
She further called for an immediate inventory and technical assessment of damage caused by floods and landslides to roads, bridges, drinking water systems and other infrastructure.
