It may be noted that Nepal qualified for the One-Day International (ODI) Asia Cup for the second time after defeating the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 44 runs last September.
President Chand described the qualification as a significant achievement for Nepali cricket. He also urged the government to announce a reward for the team.
He said the NPL had made a substantial contribution to revitalizing the country's economy as well as the sports sector. The tournament was organized through coordination among the concerned stakeholders despite challenging circumstances.
Chand further noted that financial transparency and auditing had improved considerably in the second edition of the NPL compared with the inaugural edition.
The third edition of the NPL is set to begin Monday in Kathmandu, with eight teams competing for the title.
