BUTWAL, Feb 26: Mahendra Singh Thakuri, district chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in Nawalparasi, has resigned from the party.
Thakuri joined the Nepali Congress (NC) a week before the House of Representatives election.

He was welcomed into the party by NC central vice-president Bishwo Prakash Sharma, who offered him a shawl (khada) during an election gathering.
Thakuri formally entered the NC at a campaign event held in Chaupata, Bardaghat, Nawalparasi.
