KATHMANDU, Sept 8: The Rastriya Swantantra Party (RSP) has called for the immediate resignation of the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and a fresh mandate, condemning the government’s recent crackdown on youth protests.
In a press statement issued on Monday evening, the RSP criticized the administration for widespread corruption, disregard for the rule of law and suppression of freedom of expression through the closure of social media platforms. The statement issued by General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti strongly condemned the killing of unarmed young protesters during peaceful demonstrations, terming the government’s actions as “brutal repression” and “tyrannical.”

General Secretary Burlakoti warned that the public would no longer tolerate misrule sustained at the cost of citizens’ lives. The party demanded the formation of a high-level judicial investigation commission to conduct an impartial inquiry and hold all responsible—including the Home Minister—accountable.
Highlighting the inability of the current federal parliament, dominated by the Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML, to address national issues, the RSP called for early elections and a fresh popular mandate. The party also paid tribute to the Gen Z activists killed during the protests and demanded free medical treatment for the injured.
